SpaceGuard Products
Just when you thought it couldn't get any easier to install your welded wire partition line... SpaceGuard Products has redesigned the 2180 welded wire system so that it is easier to install and more secure than ever before.
We are pleased to introduce our new face mount bracket (pictured below) to hang all slide door tracks in the 2180 welded wire line. This single piece component replaces the welded holder (part# TF2211HANGER), adding strength to the system, reducing cost from the product, and taking time out of the installation.
Equally as important, the 2180 line now uses the same 2-wheel bearing trolley used in our FordLogan and SG2000 wire enclosure lines. This change eliminates the previous movement found in the 4-wheel trolley and when combined with the re-engineered door guide, correct installation makes our slide doors impossible to "lift" out of the track.

Wire Partitions from WireCrafters are a simple, effective way to protect personnel from the dangers posed by automated equipment. These barriers are a strong, reliable, and economical solution to plant safety needs. System versatility allows easy integration of access doors or material handling openings with system controls. Unlike hi-tech devices, this guard is always on duty, unaffected by power outages or electrical problems. Also doubles as a potential safety net by containing objects ejected by a malfunctioning robot. Crimped and woven wire mesh is resilient; resists dings, retains its shape, and looks better longer.
Interlocks
WireCrafters can supply your barrier with Fortress® electrical interlocks or mounting plates for your own control system. Please specify your preference when placing your order. See details and offerings on our Electrical Interlocks page.

Folding Guard Corporation Increases Capacity and Quality by Moving to Bigger Facility.
Bedford Park (January, 2007) — Folding Guard Corporation, a leading provider of welded and woven wire security, safety and loss prevention products, has recently moved its operations and manufacturing plant from Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood to Bedford Park, IL. Folding Guard's new location is situated in an industrial development just 10 miles southwest of Chicago's downtown Loop.
“In order to better serve the growing needs of our customers and streamline our processes, it was imperative to find larger facilities on a single floor,” stated Doug Wynne, President of Folding Guard Corporation. The new facility nearly doubles the previous space, totaling 168,000 square-feet. Folding Guard hired an engineering consultant familiar with the machinery and processes used to manufacture their products, to design the new plant layout with the purpose of increasing workflow and efficiency. The single floor facility provides seamless manufacturing from raw material to finished goods. Manufacturing, paint, packaging, shipping and office support are now on one floor and the result has been a 50 percent increase in capacity and efficiency.
Folding Guard has added two new mesh welders and four new pick-and-place robots to the manufacturing plant, and will have a new powder coating system operational by February 2007. “By bringing the powder coating in-house, we now have total control of the entire manufacturing process, and that means even greater quality and reliability,” stated Mr. Wynne. “We want to offer our customers the highest quality finishes available.”
The relocation required meticulous planning to ensure no break in service to customers and no loss of productivity. Planning and implementation took 6 months, including inventory build-up, teardown of each product line, assembly of equipment in the new plant, and lastly, moving all personnel.

A Green Success Story: Folding Guard's new Powder Coating System provides a better product at the same price — and it's good for the environment.
Bedford Park, Illinois, May 2007 — For more than forty years, Folding Guard had been using a “dip coating” method to paint its products. Individual parts were dipped into wet paint and then required prolonged drying time. The wet paint required frequent clean-ups and color options were limited.
Folding Guard recently built a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and rather than installing the same kind of dip coating systems used in the past, Folding Guard chose to build a technologically advanced powder coating system. In this new, more sophisticated method of painting products, dry powder paint pigments are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto individual parts. The parts are then placed in an oven and the powder particles melt and coalesce to form a continuous film.
Powder coating produces a smooth, hard, chemical-resistant finish that won't chip or peel. As a result, customers get a product with a longer life-span — that's virtually maintenance free, and looks better. And the color choices with powder coating are virtually limitless. Folding Guard offers standard and specialty colors, and can match corporate colors as well. Today Folding Guard leads the industry in quality and durability of product finish.
The price for powder coated Folding Guard products remains the same as dip coated products. You get the same price with a superior, durable finish and more color options — without delay in delivery or lead time. And a process that was potentially harmful to the environment has been replaced by one that's environmentally friendly.

Standard Finishes

The standard maintenance-free finish is galvanized steel on our welded wire products (shown left); and machine grey powder coating on both our Wov-N-Wire™ (shown center) and expanded metal products (shown right.)
